Hollywood Software Clients 70%+ of SAG & Golden Globe Nominations in 2015

LOS ANGELES, CA

December 11, 2015 – It’s awards season in Hollywood! Both the Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) and Golden Globe Award nominations were announced in recent days, and it turns out that more than 70% of the nominations given in 2015 by both SAG and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), were our exclusive Hollywood Software clients.

The Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) Awards are presented by the SAG-AFTRA Unions, and are the only one of the televised awards shows to exclusively honor performers. It presents thirteen awards for acting in film and television focusing on both individual performances, as well as on the work of the entire ensemble of a drama series and comedy series, and the cast of a motion picture. Voters for these awards are all active, performing members of the Union, numbering more than 100,000 members strong. Check out their website for the Full List of Nominees.

The Golden Globe Awards are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a non-profit organization which has donated over $21.6 million over the past 27 years alone to entertainment-related charities, helping to fund arts and technical scholarships for new film & television professionals. Members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association represent some 55 countries with a combined readership of more than 250 million. Each year members interview more than 400 actors, directors, writers and producers, as well as reporting from film sets and seeing more than 300 films. Members also attend film festivals in other countries in order to seek out interesting and innovative foreign language films and establish cultural bonds with directors, actors, jurors and fellow journalists around the world. Check out their website for the Full List of Nominees.

So once again, congratulations to all the nominees!

“We’re thrilled we got the chance to help you on your journey to success.”

Hollywood Software Has Acquired Digital Cinema Systems Inc.

San Fernando Valley Business Journal

April 22, 2015 – Hollywood Software has acquired Digital Cinema Systems Inc., a Santa Monica firm that has developed a digital system that allows theater owners to stream multiple films simultaneously on different screens.

The Woodland Hills firm currently offers products for central servers at theaters that store digital files of movies being shown there. The acquisition adds FilmStore, a system made up of a server, a media player and software for individual screens.

“In a twenty-plex theater you cannot stream from a central server because you would be streaming 20 movies and that is not possible right now,” Hollywood Software Chief Executive David Gajda said.

Gajda founded Hollywood Software in 1997 as a service for movie theater owners and distributors for booking films and collecting box office receipts. He sold the business to Cinedigm Corp., in Los Angeles, in 2003 but bought it back last year with a group of investors.

Hollywood Software will relocate Digital Cinema’s operation from Santa Monica to the San Fernando Valley.

Terms of the deal were not announced.
